The Best Choice for East Jeff and West Jeff Hospitals
The Louisiana Weekly editorial board endorses HCA for East Jeff and West Jeff Hospitals. Read editorial
“Like any triage situation, this endorsement of the Editorial Board of The Louisiana Weekly is messy, yet necessary in order to save the patient. Our preference, all things being equal, would be for the Jefferson Parish Council to award HCA the management contract for both hospitals, East and West Bank.”
HCA Supplier Diversity
HCA is committed to providing minority companies, women owned businesses and other local enterprises, in the communities HCA serves, an equal opportunity to compete for and earn contracts for goods and services at the local, divisional and national levels.
HCA has a dedicated national team headed up by a native New Orleanian who works closely with each Division Director of Contracting & Supplier Diversity (DCSD) to explore opportunities and to grow diverse local businesses. This team participates in an incentive plan which is partially tied to achieving specific diversity goals that are tracked and measured on a monthly basis.
HCA is a member of the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC), the Women Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), the Association for Service Disabled Veterans (ASDV) and their local affiliates. These organizations are used to identify vendors for participation in the RFP process. See our supplier diversity commitments and success stories

Why HCA for Jefferson Parish?
The Times-Picayune recommends HCA as the best all-around choice for the upcoming decision regarding management operating partner of Jefferson Parish’s two hospitals in its October 13, 2013, editorial. Read more
The editorial points out several key reasons why HCA makes sense:
- HCA offers 33% more in the upfront lease payment than the next-highest bidder,
- HCA offers tens of millions of dollars in property taxes, which benefit the whole community.
- HCA has the highest-quality care of any bidder, based on government-mandated
core measure scores.
- The EJGH (East Jefferson General Hospital) board did an extensive analysis of HCA
and Children’s and concluded that HCA is by far the best option.
